Support Groups


Saint Mary's offers a variety of support groups that enable community members to share perspectives, express feelings, clarify options, expand outlooks and reach out to others who are going through similar experiences.

Breast Cancer - On With Life: This support group provides a highly educational approach to looking at breast cancer. The latest research is discussed, as well as topics like alternative therapies, side effects of chemotherapy, reconstruction and community services. The group meets on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Saint Mary's Center for Health, 645 N. Arlington, Radiation Oncology Department. Call Liz Thomas (775) 722-1222 for more information.

Men’s Cancer Support Group: Please join Saint Mary’s All Men’s Cancer Support group. The support group is available to any male who has been impacted by cancer including survivors and caregivers. The group every other Thursday at Saint Mary’s Center for Health, 645 North Arlington, Suite 120 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. For more information call (775) 722-1222.

Diabetes Awareness Support Group: This group is for people with diabetes and their families. Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Saint Mary's Center for Health, 645 N. Arlington, Suite 200 in Reno. Call (775) 770-3600 for more information.

Widows and Widowers Support Group: This group is open to all widows and widowers, with an emphasis on those who have been widowed six months or more. Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the RLDS Church, 1375 Coleman Drive in Reno. Call (775) 354-2430 for more information.

Tears and Rainbows Grief Support Group - Reno (Evening): This support group is for individuals in the Reno/Sparks area who are grieving the loss of a loved one. It meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Saint Mary's Foundation Building, 520 West 6th Street, Reno. For more information, call (775) 770-3735.

Parents with Premature Infants (POPS): This group is for all parents of premature infants and children who were born prematurely. Group offers speakers and discussions about the special health and development issues faced by premature babies. It meets the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to Noon at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, 235 West Sixth Street in Reno in the lower auditoriums. New Mothers Support Group: This group offers support to first time mothers in dealing with the changes and issues that come with having a new baby. It meets every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, 235 West Sixth Street in Reno. For more information, call Denise Garrick at (775) 770-3843.

Footprints Pregnancy / Newborn Loss Support Group: This support group is for individuals who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or newborn. It meets the third Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, 235 West Sixth Street in Reno.
