Saint Mary’s is northern Nevada’s healthcare leader in health and wellness with community services devoted to helping you "Live Healthy, Live Well". Our Community WellCheck is a community wellness health fair that is held monthly and offers a variety of screenings, immunizations and preventive health services. Because we value your time, Saint Mary’s offers the convenience of a scheduled personal appointment, central locations and "at the door" parking.

Blood work:

  • Complete Metabolic Panel with Lipids (includes glucose and cholesterol)
Purpose: To measure blood levels to determine those at risk for or with a family history of heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, stroke, circulation disorders, as well as potential liver problems. The Lipid Profile, including a breakdown of the "good" (HDL) and the "bad" (LDL) cholesterol levels and triglycerides, is an accurate indicator of coronary heart disease.
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Purpose: To provide information about the blood (such as red and white blood cell counts) and blood-forming tissues (especially the bone marrow). Abnormal results may indicate conditions such as anemia, leukemia, and infection, as well as problems with blood clotting.
  • Hypothyroid Panel (includes thyroid panel and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
Purpose: To diagnose thyroid disorders; help monitor thyroid replacement therapy and treatment in people suffering from hypothyroidism; and help diagnose and/or monitor female infertility problems. People with a family history of thyroid disease or symptoms of thyroid disease (such as unintentional weight loss or gain, fatigue, dry skin, hair loss, heat or cold intolerance, etc.) should consider this test.
  • TSH
Purpose: To measure the amount of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in the blood. This is a helpful initial screening to evaluate thyroid function, which may affect weight gain, fatigue or memory problems.
  • Thyroid
Purpose: To measure how much thyroid protein is in the blood.
  • Glycohemoglobin
Purpose: To evaluate the average blood sugar level during the last two or three months. It is performed for persons with diabetes to aid in treatment planning and evaluation.
  • Blood Typing (ABO/Rh)
Purpose: To determine blood type and Rh factor.

Miscellaneous Screenings:

  • Pulmonary Lung Function Test
Purpose: To help determine the presence of either obstructive or restrictive lung disease processes and assess lung and breathing capacity. This spirometry screening is recommended for smokers, ex-smokers and individuals with asthma.
  • Colo-Rectal Cancer Home Screening Kit
Purpose: To identify blood in stool which may be a warning sign of many colorectal diseases. This simple, sanitary test requires no stool handling and is recommended for persons 40 years of age and over and those who have a personal or family history of lower intestinal disorders, colorectal cancer or other cancers.
  • Osteoporosis Bone Density Heel Scan
Purpose: To measure the strength of bone and help determine fracture risk, particularly in women over age 40 with risk factors. Risk factors include: age/gender; family history; race; bone structure/body weight; menopause/menstrual history; lifestyle; medications and chronic diseases. A complete list of risk factors is available at the WellCheck event.
  • Personal Wellness Profile
Purpose: To provide a computerized wellness assessment that evaluates current health status based on family history, lifestyles, personal safety issues, diet and exercise. Participants will receive a personalized report evaluating heart health risk factors, cancer risk factors, physical activity, stress level and other health risk factors.
